BEERENBERG @ JAN MAYEN
BEERENBERG @ JAN MAYEN
I happily spent my last Saturday afternoon in a wonderful expedition with 10 Norwegians and 2 Icelanders to Beerenberg volcano at Jan Mayen, a remote volcanic island on the Arctic. A totally amazing photo journey by Erik Aaseth.
DON'T MISS IT!
A photographic story about a journey to Jan Mayen, a Norwegian island in the Arctic sea at 71ºN latitude, for climbing Beerenberg, the worlds northernmost volcano above sea level, a still active stratovolcano, 2277 meters high. Our goal was to encircle the whole crater rim, an enterprise no one had ever done before...The journey took place 13-24.06.2008, where 10 Norwegians and 2 Icelanders participated. A big thanks to Runar and Sigurður at Borea Adventures for helping us to safely make our dream come true! Have a look, feel free to take a shortcut to this remote and remarkable place!
