How Hollywood Encourages Piracy
It's almost as if the movie industry wants people to pirate movies. They've done everything in their power to make authorized downloadable movies inconvenient, expensive, inferior to DVD versions and generally problematic.
Everybody knows that all these limitations are deliberately and artificially imposed on legitimate downloads by the movie industry, and also that such limitations do not exist with easily accessible unauthorized downloads.
Hollywood could make so much more money by just giving people what they want (all movies anytime). Instead, they're training a generation on the torrent habit. How dumb is that?
Great column in Scientific American by David Pogue.
