Well, well.

Well, well. Look at what popped up recently -- a beautiful print (in its apparently original 4:3 aspect ratio) of the 1969 ultra-bizarre cult classic The Monitors. Back in UCLA ARPANET days, we at one point had "slogans" inspired by this film coming out of speakers in the cubicles. They were in my voice. Seriously. // This is a very odd film, produced entirely in Chicago, and really showing off Chicago of the era. It was an attempt by Bell and Howell to enter the film biz, and create a Chicago-based film industry with the help of famed Second City. The film, about an invasion of extremely peaceful aliens who take over Earth in the manner of polite high school hall monitors, deviates considerably from the original novel, but it's still great fun. And for Trek fans, it stars Susan Oliver of ST:TOS Green Orion Slave Girl fame. What's not to love?
