China has produced the world's first hydrogen-powered tram, which began its commercial operations in Tangshan since Thursday.

The tram emits only water with zero pollution, because it does not generate any nitrogen oxides, since the temperature of the reaction inside the fuel cell is kept under 100 degrees Celsius.

It has three carriages with 66 seats, a capacity to run for 40 kilometers at a maximum speed of 70 kilometers per hour, and just takes 15 minutes to refuel.

Interestingly, Tangshan in Hebei Province that envelops Beijing, is a city built over coal mining business. The old Tangshan was virtually grounded in a deadly earthquake in 1976, and current city was rebuilt over the ruin in the recent decades.
