The author of Forbes article Anthony Karcz addresses a Gsuite update to be a huge one and defines it as "breaking the cycle". Another difference to note is one doesn't need to code to automate the tasks with Macros functionality.
The Google Sheets macro recorder lets you record actions (no matter how micro) and play them back on command without having to write any code.
