ELP 1972 Tokyo
ELP 1972 Tokyo
Emerson, Lake & Palmer arrived in Japan on July 13, 1972, preparing for their concert on the 22nd at the Korakuen baseball stadium ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korakuen_Stadium ) and on the 24th at the Koshien stadium, a free outdoor concert. In the Korakuen presentation (see video below), there was a strong typhoon that affected the equipment, including the Modular Moog. With the wind and rain, the audience rushed to the stage and confusion ensued. Those responsible, for prudence, turned off the electricity. This happened in the middle of the drum solo of Carl Palmer, who still kept beating for 20 minutes, the crazy fella.
Korakuen stadium was closed in 1987 and soon after it was demolished, for the construction of Tokyo Dome ( http://bit.ly/2wloNop ), that occupies the same place until today.
Here is the video, although filmed in some parts with the camera covered with a plastic so it would not get wet. But it's a rarity because the audio is pretty good.
