Keeping communities cool

Keeping communities cool

If you have a Google Plus COmmunity - it doesn't matter whether you have a few hundred or thousands of members, it is important to manage your community well.

Sadly I have seen communities that start up and gather a whole host of members, and then the owner kind of disappears, new requests to join are ignored and the owner is never there to engage with the community.

If you start a community it is really important that you keep it organised, that you, the owner respond to join requests and that you pop in to talk to your members, comment on their posts and engage with them regularly.

Not only is this a great way to build your own online visibility and to showcase who you are and what you do, but it is also the way to help others to learn more and be more too.

If you build a community purely with the intention of garnering likes and positioning yourself, and then when that has happened you stop engaging, responding to join requests and people never see you, why not ask one of the members if they would like to become an admin and manage the community instead of you so that people know there is someone at the helm?

Communities with no-one taking notice of the posts or managing invites, regularly monitoring quality of content, are like a ship without a captain ......
